Universal circuit breaker, also known as frame circuit breaker, is a mechanical switchgear that can connect, carry and disconnect current under normal circuit conditions, as well as connect, carry and disconnect current for a certain period of time under specified abnormal circuit conditions. Universal circuit breakers are used to distribute electrical energy and protect lines and power equipment from overload, undervoltage, short circuits, etc.
This type of circuit breaker usually has a steel frame, and all components are installed inside the frame. It has a large capacity and can be equipped with multiple functional release devices and more auxiliary contacts. It has high segmentation ability and thermal stability, so it is commonly used in places that require high breaking capacity and selective protection.
The circuit breaker is arranged in a three-dimensional form, with the contact system and the left and right side plates of the instantaneous overcurrent release installed on one insulation board. The upper part is equipped with an arc extinguishing system, and the operating mechanism can be installed in the front or right side, with "open" and "close" indicators and a manual disconnect button. It is equipped with a shunt release on the upper left and an undervoltage release connected to the release half shaft on the back. The speed saturation current transformer or current voltage converter is mounted on the lower busbar. Undervoltage delay devices, thermal relays, or semiconductor release devices can be installed below.
The intelligent universal circuit breaker is suitable for distribution networks with AC 50Hz, rated voltage of 380V, 660V, and rated current of 200A-6300A. It is mainly used to distribute electrical energy and protect lines and power equipment from overload, undervoltage, short circuit, single-phase grounding and other faults.
